ArchivesOne Sales and Marketing Director Elected President of Hartford / Springfield ARMA Chapter

MILFORD, CT/July 1, 2004

George L. Purnell, director of sales & marketing of ArchivesOne, Inc. in Milford, Conn., has been elected president of the Hartford/Springfield chapter of the Association of Records Managers & Administrators (ARMA).

ARMA is an international association which offers records management professionals in its more than 130 chapters continuing education and greater awareness of the records management industry. "With ARMA, a records and information (RIM) professional has access to resources and opportunities that will contribute to his or her professional growth, and will make the person a more valuable asset to an organization," Purnell said.

Purnell, who resides in Branford, Conn., entered the records management industry in August 1987 and has always been involved in ARMA. He immediately became a board member of the New Haven/Bridgeport chapter and spent the final five years as its treasurer and president. At the time, he was the general manager of the William B. Records Center.

After taking a position with Iron Mountain Records Management and Storage in Cincinnati, OH in 1993, Purnell soon became an ARMA Board member and continued his participation while a district manager for Iron Mountain. When he returned to CT in 1997 in his present position with ArchivesOne, Purnell joined the Hartford/Springfield chapter of ARMA.

He became involved in a variety of Board positions such as ISG (Industry Specific Group) Chairman, Executive Vice President and for the last three years as Membership Vice President before being elected president. He has spent 18 years as an ARMA member.
