ARCHIVESONE EMPLOYEE TRAINING PROGRAM RANKED AMONG
NATION’S “TOP 125”

Rapid and sustained growth through a series of recent acquisitions from Pennsylvania to Texas has put the teambuilding commitment of ArchivesOne Inc. to the test – and the Connecticut company has made the grade with honors. ArchivesOne’s pioneering program of comprehensive staff training and continuing education, a cornerstone of its emergence as the third-largest records management and document storage company in the United States, has gained prestigious recognition with the Middlebury-based firm’s selection in Training Magazine’s 2007 survey of the nation’s “Top 125” organizations in the field of employee development.

ArchivesOne executives will receive the formal citation during awards presentations at the magazine’s 30th annual Training 2007 Conference and Expo, to be held from Feb. 26 to 28 at the Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Training Magazine’s annual survey singles out model corporate and institutional programs for human capital development. Past recipients of the award include General Mills, IBM, Wachovia, Ritz-Carlton and Lockheed Martin.

During 2006, ArchivesOne demonstrated its commitment to developing professional and leadership skills within an integrated corporate structure by conducting 350 training events providing a total of more than 4,000 staff training hours. The typical ArchivesOne team member last year participated in 12 training sessions.

ArchivesOne management views continuous employee development as a natural complement to the company’s philosophy of “Core Operating Procedures,” a constantly evolving and regularly updated compilation of the best practices drawn from the cumulative experience of its past acquisitions. Since its founding in 1991, ArchivesOne has acquired 33 private records management firms in 17 marketplaces spanning the Eastern seaboard from Vermont to Florida, as well as Ohio, Michigan and Texas. ArchivesOne chief executive officer A.J. Wasserstein noted the firm’s commitment to staff training “has allowed us to be consistent providers of service to our customers.”

ArchivesOne chief operating officer John Pavlovich observed that the culture of employee training and process improvement permeates the company. “The goals of our training program are clear: Drive continuous improvement in our people and processes, promote the concept of a unified company, and develop future leaders from within,” Pavlovich noted.

ArchivesOne’s ranking in the Training Magazine “Top 125” survey highlights the company’s introduction of training innovations that have established the benchmark for employee development in the records management and storage industry. Among the most successful innovations in the company’s training program are:

  • The ArchivesOne Book Club. Through conference-call roundtable discussions ideally suited to the company’s geographically dispersed network, ArchivesOne Book Clubs brought together more than 100 corporate, customer service and shared service team members in eight separate clubs during 2006 to discuss management and business principles and their applications to the firm. “The ArchivesOne Book Club creates a great opportunity for team members to interact on a voluntary basis with people in other locations and job functions in a meaningful way,” Pavlovich said.
  • The ArchivesOne Institute. Thirty-five managers last year participated in four daylong Institute meetings to receive training in management skills, financial statement review, technical records management and Core Operating Procedures. “The future leaders of ArchivesOne are in our mid-level management team,” Pavlovich noted. “The ArchivesOne Institute is an investment in the future of the company.”

As ArchivesOne looks forward to fresh acquisition opportunities in 2007 – already under way with its purchase in January of Eastern Secured Data in Allentown, PA – Wasserstein said the company’s nationally recognized employee development program provides an important edge in making its case to prospective sellers. “Our environment of operational excellence resonates with past and future acquisition candidates,” he said. “When they are selling their company, their primary concern is knowing that their customers will be well served, and that their employees will be given an opportunity for learning and advancement.”
